Do eco-cars exist?

The damaging environmental impingement of our reliance on fossil fuel is there for us all to see. If we look at autos, that is where we can start to see shifts. Cars greatly contribute to the emissions released which can damage the environment, so it's not surprising that automobile makers have started making environmentally friendly cars.

An automobile powered by a battery could might be the vehicle that is the least damaging to the environment. Because it runs on battery means has no need for diesel or gasoline. So this is fantastic for the environment and will result in cash savings but there is a problem to think about. The automobile engines themselves are a little limited at this time but the cars are now available to consumers. The battery charge will keep the car running for more or less 100 miles, so the car won't run too far without recharging.

The hybrid car is another type of car for consumers. An environmentally friendly hybrid is gasoline and battery powered. You might be asking yourself, 'How does that work?' Well, let me share it with you. It is the power generated by the battery that is utilized first by the car. As the hybrid calls for more power and reaches a particular speed, this is when it starts using petrol. The nice thing about the hybrid using fuel is that the battery is charged up automatically, which means you don't have to charge the battery yourself with an outside power source.

One other choice is a vehicle referred to as a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The manner in which plug-in hybrids operate like the other kind of hybrid cars and they are eco friendly. The plug-in hybrid does, however, have to be manually recharged whereas this is an automatic function of the typical hybrid model. Compared to typical cars, you will find hybrid cars are good for fuel efficiency.

A good example of a hybrid car that can give you 50 miles to the gallon is the Prius from Toyota. It has a tag price of about £18,000 and is now one of the market leaders. Honda's Insight hybrid car was the first hybrid car to be sold and before Toyota arrived in the marketplace. It helped promote awareness among consumers for hybrids and paved the way for the Toyota Prius. A top-rated hybrid and priced around £$27,000 is the Ford Fusion Hybrid. It is regarded by many as the number one hybrid vehicle in the United States. Mitsubishi has created the 'i-MiEV', which produces perfectly no emissions. It was among the early electric autos to be developed by a Japanese car company.

As technology further improves and the market gets bigger we will see a great deal more alternatives for buyers in the hybrid and environmentally friendly car world.
