Buying into Green Technology and Saving Money!

Many people are looking at green technology as a real method of lowering their monthly power output while saving money at the same time. The cost to power vehicles, homes and businesses has increased sharply over the past decade and shows little sign of reversing itself. This factor has led to real concerns about how to stay up with increasing prices of energy and is making millions of people nervous worldwide. The Federal Energy Mgmt. Program known as FEMP has been diligently at work trying to find alternate methods of driving down the cost of energy by investigating products that will have a real chance in alleviating the current condition of energy shortages and worry.

Low energy costs have become one of the most desired wants and needs of all citizens and the Energy Star emblem is continually attached to the latest tried and true products with its stamp of approval called the Energy Star emblem. There are many products such as appliances that carry this Energy Star emblem, which represents a product that meets certain criteria of being truly energy efficient. They have been increasingly noticeable in stores across the country where appliances are purchased.

One way in which an energy star rating is obtained is in electrically powered kitchen appliances. When they are not in use they go into a sleep mode, thereby reducing the amount of power needed when not in use. Appliances such as computers can be found with the low Energy Star emblems as they go into a sleep mode when not in operation. Though electrically charged products are not in use, they may still be equipped with LED readouts such as clocks on stoves and microwaves that continue to burn electricity. While the stove and refrigerator are not appliances that should be shut down, items such as coffee pots, microwaves and toasters should be unplugged to save on power bills.

Energy Star has a rating system that people can take advantage of when comparing how efficient an appliance really is. In most cases the rating by FEMP involves the amount of watts produced by an appliance when in the standby mode and then calculates the annual cost to operate the item as compared to other like appliances. By observing the charts and buying products that are extremely efficient can save the consumer hundreds of dollars per year. This is money that the user does not have to pay out in utility bills. Conserving energy using green technology will save the consumer both money and help decrease the dependence on the earth’s natural resources.

The latest in green technology has led man to the use of the light bulb and its ability to burn brighter, last indefinitely, while costing the consumer less. Their low energy ability is highly rated by FEMP with its Energy Star rating applied to the packaging. These new swirly bulbs along with advancements in LED lighting have become extremely popular over the past few years. Green technology is in full swing right now and much new advancement will soon lead to even greater savings. Before too long, many scientists and those that are incentive driven will be able to develop energy technologies to the point where they will be deliverable to the masses.
